Why does my puppy hate going to the bathroom outside
Our puppy refuses to go to the bathroom outside. The only luck we sometimes have is in the morning when we first take him out. We've only had him about 10 days now but for the first 5 days he would do his business outside within 5 mins. Now he only ever does it in the house. He's backtracking. For instance, I just took him outside 5 mins ago, and he just walked around doing nothing, and then we come inside and 2 mins later he goes into the kitchen and squats. This is really frustrating and he doesn't seem to get that what he is doing is bad. We yell and raise our voices and say no but he just wags his tail and runs over to us. I sprayed him in the face with water (spray bottle) but it didn't phase him. Making a loud noise doesn't help. The only thing left to do is put him in his kennel which eventually makes him whine and cry but I don't want him to only think of it as a place where he goes when he is bad. How can this problem be fixed? I don't want to get rid of him, but my bf does!
Answers:A puppy is like a baby. He will relieve himself anywhere, anytime. Because a newly adopted adult dog is unfamiliar with your home, he may not understand where he should "go"! Housetraining, or teaching your dog to go outside to relieve himself, is an important lesson your dog must learn.
It is up to you, the new parent, to housetrain your new puppy or dog with patience, love and understanding.
