Why does my yorkie have 2 sets of teeth
Teeth problems can be genetic, be sure and report it to the breeder so they know this is a problem in their lines. A reputable breeder wants to know the problems that can happen in the lines. I would have the extra teeth removed as it can lead to dental disease.

my shih tzu does too!!! hes 2 and never lost all of his baby teeth! my vet recommended to me to get the teeth pulled out because if not, dogs can develop teeth and gum problems! so i am planning to go get the few "extra" teeth removed! i thought i would wait awhile to see if they would ever fall out but they havent!! lol!!
Cause alot of small breed dogs have teeth problems, and sometimes puppy teeth don't fall out properly. You should have the puppy teeth removed, or you risk all sorts of gum infections etc.. which lead to heart problems and even more serious problems than just a second row of teeth.
It is usually a sign of bad breeding. It can be baby teeth that need to be pulled, but more than often it's a problem that was perpetuated by dogs that should not have been bred in the first place.
It is indicative of Yorkies to end up with 2 sets of teeth.
They are known for not always losing their puppy teeth.
I acquired an original size Yorkie (14lbs) and when I did I noticed that he had infected gums and urine that was absolutely the most horrible smell I had ever smelled. . . I suppose it was from the infected gums.
It was when I looked at his gums I noticed the teeth.
I started him on antibiotics and put him on smaller chunk dog food.
In no time at all his gums cleared up and so did his urine.
When I took him to the vet for his shots,she looked at his teeth and when I questioned her,she told me that Yorkie's are famous for not losing puppy teeth.
She said she could pull the extra teeth for $89.00 a tooth. . . since Kippee seems to eat just fine the way he is I have opted to just leave the extra teeth there.
