Why does our puppy twitch and whine when he sleeps2007-11-25 2:56:46
It seems like she's having nightmares or something.
should I do something when this happens or just leave her be?
is this normal?
she is about 2 almost 3 months old now, pure bred akita in case that info was important
Answers:She's probably dreaming. My dogs do it all the time. They whine and sometimes woof in their dreams. Most often it's the paws and or legs twitching too. I think they dream of chasing something. I wouldn't worry about her sleep though. If she wakes up happy, I'd say she's just have dreams.
its normal. leave her alone. shes just dreaming - most dogs do this at some stage :)
she is dreaming! Lots of dogs do this when they dream. Sometimes it looks like they are running or chasing things in their dreams or doing sort of dream barks.
Totally normal, my dogs have always done that and still do, they are just dreaming. Its so cute! I love the little bark/whines they make in their sleep.
well i heard that it normale for pets have nightmares sometime but if youre so worrying about youre dog then maybe you should just awake her up in case .
I have seen this before, not just in puppies. When this happens you can softly call to the dog by name and tell them it is ok in a nice tone of voice until they stop. It has worked. They have dreams just as people do and the twitching then is as if they are trying to run in her sleep then just as the whining is their crying about something while they are dreaming. It is normal for them to do this at times.
He or she is dreaming. probably running and barking in their dreams.
Puppies do that. They dream just like we do. Puppies have one thing on their minds constantly, playing. And they do it in their sleep too. So the twitching and the "voice" is perfectly normal. Let 'em sleep, and dream. It's ok.
She's dreaming - just leave her alone. I'm sure you twitch and whine bit in your sleep, too :)
If it's an older dog it may be thru pain but sounds like your dog is having an entertaining dream (my former dog would do a few barks as well). It's normal and let the dog enjoy it, if it's a nightmare it'll wake-up and cuddle up to you.
Don't worry, she is just dreaming, dogs will run, wine, bark and growl when they r sleeping it is completely normal.
Dont worry. Your puppy is just dreaming and its totally normal for them to be whining n twitching.
