Why doesnt my dog use all of her legs2007-11-25 2:56:46

my dog is soooo weird. when she runs, she uses 2 front legs and 1 back leg. any ideas why. i'm just wondering if she is saving that one for later.

I'm guessing she's a Toy breed? A lot of small dogs will pull up a leg when they run because they have stifle (patella) problems -- usually genetic.

Next time you take her to the vet, ask them about it -- they'll be able to tell you for certain.

if she is older she might have arthritis or she got an injury of some sort but it could be that you just have a cool dog

could be an old injury on that back leg, when she runs it puts more pressure on that foot which might be causing her pain and that is why she doenst use it.
