1) It's a normal part of their diet.

2) If they have an upset stomach, the grass binds with the contents of their stomachs, helping them to throw up and get rid of it.

3) Sometimes they aren't eating it, just tasting it to detect the scent of other animals.

They eat it because they don't feel good. When their stomach hurts or feels like they are gonna barf. It kinda "soothes" their stomach to make it feel better.
