Why dont Cavaliers have legs
I'm a groomer and do a large number of breeds. I also do show dogs as well. The only breed I can consistantly say that doesn't stand for long is the cavalier. I know that some pets aren't trained to stand and haven't got the necessary mussle development to want standing and have taken that into account.
Granted some Cavs stand but the other 50 plus ones I do don't. Also in the showring I have noticed that as soon as they stop running they hit the ground. Is there a reason for this?. Were they bred not to be alert on there feet?
Cav breeders replies preferred.
Answers:Cavs were originally companion dogs so they aren't really bred the way other dogs such as sporting dogs are. They do tend to be calmer (although they do love to play too). They probably just prefer to lie down when they don't have a job to do.
Odd I've never noticed this. My Cav, Howie, is extremely active and always on his feet. I groom him myself and have never had this problem, nor with any other Cav I've owned.
My Labrador is much more likely to hit the floor as soon as possible...
never seen or heard a cavvie doing this. i see them in agility and they are always standing, running, climbing.
I have never seen this happen with my dog Maggie, Maybe they need to get fed more..
