Why is my dog doing this
so i took people's advice on here and took my dog on a leash downstairs so he could go to the toilet. he saw another dog and wanted to head for it but the leash stopped him (thankfully). when he finished, i took him up the stairs, and about halfway up. i let him off the lead so he can walk up on his own. but when i take it off, he starts to head downstairs! i suspect he was looking for a dog seeing that there were lots barking. how can i stop this behaviour?
Answers:the proper way to walk your dog, even on a potty trip, is to leash them and have them in a sitting position when you open the door to leave your home, and you need to be the first to step outside not him.now, you do that same thing in reverse for a dog coming home: in the house, sitting position then the leash comes off.well trained dogs don't need a leash, a dog that goes in the opposite direction is not well trained your dog needs a leash.if your dog is friendly have you considered taking him to the dog park to make some friends?

wants someone that looks like he/she for playmate or poss casual encounter put on doggie suit and figure which (sorry could not help last part ) but really just wants to play
Don't let it off the leash.
Keep the dog on a leash when in public...go do some obedience training with the dog.
Get him used to a routine and leave the leash on but try just letting go of the leash.. He sounds like he just wants to know what is going on around him in canine life.. So just be firm and tell him NO .
You really shouldn't have a dog.
Fuji, Don't let your dog off the leash until you have done LOTS more training. How will you feel if the next time he runs in front of a car and gets killed or bites someone. I'm glad you listened to peoples advice last time but that was only a few hours ago, it's going to take months of training before you will be able to trust him off leash again.
