Why is my dog eating dirt2007-11-25 2:56:24

We had dirt delivered in my back yard I'd say maybe 2 weeks ago. Since then, my elderly dog has been eating the dirt. Also, my other dogs are eating grass. I know if they eat grass supposively their stomach hurts but, what is the chance of them all (4) doing it at the same time? We haven't changed their food or anything. We feed them Purina 1. Any suggestions?

Also, last week when I walked down stairs there was bloody grass on the rug like they had pooped it out. There was other little piles of it as well, I told my parents and they just kind of brushed it off because they don't know which one is doing it.

I know how u feel because I have dogs that eat grass and dirt... The dogs eat grass beacuse they want to make what ever they ate wrong to go out their stomache. The dog eats dirt because they.... thinks it is good or they want 2 or they find it is good .. who know it is a dog life after all. O when u said that u found blood and grass on ur carpet that is because ur dog is perhapse on it's period.. i am not kidding even dogs have that so u better becareful or else ur dog might become pergant... i hope that dog get better and stops eating dirt but it is normal for a dog 2 eat grass and hope that dog u where talking bout that pooped on the carpet was a girl ...well it would be better if u go get a dog doc. 2 check it up because i am not really good at knowing bout dogs life cycle or u can make it feel better and how that ur dog has nothing wrong w/ it :) O and another thing u need to give ur dog diffrent kind of dog food because u can't feed baby dog food 2 a 2 years old dogs u need 2 give ur dog what ur dogs age is and I think thats all and GOOD LUCK W/ UR DOG.

you are feeding a POOR QUALITY food... try a premium dry kibble for your dogs,,, CANIDAE is a good one.

your dogs all need to be wormed

all dogs do that.it is pretty normal.if there gums bleed take them to a vet.

grass actually helps a dogs stomach and you should get different food and take them to the vet. the food may be hurting there stamachs very bad
