Why is my dog so skinny
I have an Irish setter he is a year old now, i have had previous setters no of which have been this skinny. He eats two bowls of food in the morning and at night, and yet i can see his back bone his ribbs and his hips, we have wormed him and treated him for heart worms too, i need some help for my dog please help me!
Answers:Give him more food or maybe even specialized food for him. But it really isn't dangerous as long as he isn't hungry.
feed him more.
This is a vet problem hon...no one here can run blood tests, again do fecal counts. If you aren't satisfied with the vet you use, change.
take him to the vet because he might be haing trouble digesting food
talk to your vet! maybe your dog has a health condition that is causing him to be that skinny.
Did you see his parents when you got them, I know in some breeds there are different body builds , in greyhound there are 3 different types, cresteds come in a fine boned and cobby type
Could be his body is not metabolizing/breaking down the food correctly, you could try giving digestive enzymes there is a product called NZYMES鈩?br />
Other thing could be the digestibility of the food you are feeding, if it contains a lot of grains his body may be having problems breaking it down so changing foods may help to say Canidae of even a grain free food
maybe a high matebelism
Pets (like people) who lose weight even while eating an appropriate amount of food is not normal and can be dangerous.
Speak with a veterinarian. Monitor his weight. Weight loss can be caused by many significant health problems. Do not let anyone tell you to "just feed him more" or "It is not a serious problem." - they are wrong and giving you bad advice.
Question: You treated him for heartworm? I assume he was DIAGNOSED with a heartworm infestation and treated with injectable heartworm medication and the veterinary office.
