Why is my dog suddenly peeing on my recliner2007-11-25 2:56:26

And he wasnt' neutered when he was younger.. why??

That would have avoided this whole problem.. Nope since he has started this behaviour, it's likely something you are going to have to work with and train him not to mark in the house.. Had he been neutered young, he wouldn't even have started..

You have to keep an eye on him, if he is doing it when you aren't in the room, don't allow him into the room til you can be there. Watch him like a hawk, when he siddles up to stuff to get ready to mark, you are there watching and when he lifts his leg, you tell him NO and put him outside. ALL pee goes outside, whether it's pee, or marking.. Clean the recliner really really well so that he can't smell it there at all.. Get the rest of your animals spayed/neutered so that he isn't going to try and mark over something else.. And don't give him the impression that he needs to protect you.. If he is marking your stuff, he is marking you for himself.. You don't want him to think that he needs to protect you, or that you belong to him.. You should be alpha over him, rather than him taking care of you.

Dogs dont' do things out of rebellion, they don't do paybacks for things.. Dogs act out of instinct.. People do things out of rebellion.. Dogs don't think that way.. If they mark it's instinct... If they chew your shoes it's because they were left out and you are gone and they are frustrated... Shoes smell like you.. They don't chew, mark or destroy out of rebellion..
