Why is my lab shaking his head back and forth, like he is trying to pop something out of his ear
Should I take him to the vet? Do you think he has something stuck in his ear. I just got home from work and he shakes his ears side to side like something is in there, but I dont see anything.
Answers:I have this porblem with my dog. She has ear infections since she has dropped ears and loves water. YOu really want to take care of the situation because the ear canal can and will swell up so that you can't treat it without giving the dog a steriod to take down the swelling and apply either an antibiotic or a yeast inhibitor depending on which is the culprit. Also constant vigorous head shaking can cause a hematoma (large bood blister) to form on the outside ear which will lead to a necessary surgery to remove. Expensive and not plesant for the dog or you wallet. Ask me how I know this!
YES take him to the vet...probably an emergency appointment!
Yes, take him to a vet. It can be a foxtail or other foreign object or it can be an infection. If dogs shake their heads too hard and too often they can give themselves a hematoma and those are painful and can leave a scar .
yes u should take him 2 the vet. there could be a # of reasons why he does that. so i would take him to the vet if i were u.
Could be an ear parasite, could be a neurological problem, could be neurotic behavior.
Yes, take him to the vet.
I suggest that you have a vet check his ears. He could have a yeast or bacterial infection going on. The only way to know for sure is a smear that is looked at under the microscope. If this is the case, usually it is treated with ear drops...Good Luck!
most likely he has something in there. even if its water it should be taken care of. sometimes a call to the vet will give you something to try. He could have small bugs in there or it could be related to sometjing totally different like a tooth ache.
Your dog could possibly have a severe or mild ear infection or something in the ear that can not be seen to the naked eye. I would suggest that you take your Lab to the vet for further inspection of the ear. Hope all turns out well.
Sounds like an ear infection or ear mites.
