One word - puppy. Puppies do all sorts of crazy things while they are teething, and sometimes they just chew on things to test what it's like. Isolate your puppy away from walls when you can't be there to watch him, and when you are there and he starts to bite the walls, tell him no, and redirect him.

If he is doing this while you are home and supervising him (meaning you are in the same room and can see him) - I would say that he might be teething or just being a puppy. Dogs find things to do. Some things they do are inappropriate. The dog does not know this until you teach them. If you catch him doing it, tell him *NO* and redirect him - to a fun game with you, or a toy or chew he is allowed to have. Repeat as necessary.

If he is doing this while you're not home, or when you're in another room and not supervising him, the cause might be boredom or separation anxiety. If a dog destroys the house when you're out of sight, the dog is not ready to have the run of the house. Get a crate and use it. Or create a dog safe room and put him there when you cannot supervise. Either way, make sure there's lots of stuff for him to chew on that he's allowed to chew - a Kong with treats in it is a great choice and will keep him busy.

Chances are that he's bored and teething. Ever thought about putting him in doggy daycare for the day while your gone, if this is when it's happening, otherwise, better invest in some steel walls for the next little while!
