Dogs ears are very sensitive to high pitches. The high pitch of the note is more than likely hurting his/her ears. Thats why when alot of people train their dogs they use dog whistles. Dog whistles emit a pitch so high in frequency that we can't hear it but to them it hurts.
your dog was singing too, well that's what he probably thought anyway.

High pitched noises hurt dogs ears. When i play really high notes on the guitar my dog sings alone. It's enjoyable, but he's probably dying of pain.

Maybe they're annoyed of hearing any loud sound not only because you're singing with a high note. The same goes to my pet dog when he heard a band on a parade hearing those "booms and blows". He went under my dad's bed as fast as he could and like crying. But after a while, we went out there and got back to his place. Poor puppy hehehehehe
