My dog used to attack me and my other dog and it turns out he had pains in his leg and he would lash out when touched. So there is usually some reason a dog is attacking.
You're totally right. It is also the victims falut for bugging them. But no animal should be put to sleep for harming any thing.
A few years ago we were at a petting zoo and my brother got bit by a turky. The officer asked which one it was because they would kill it, we told them we didn't know.
I understand where you are coming from BUT you also need to realise that often a dog that attacks and goes unpunished will become more aggressive and attack again, that is why it is put down. It sucks and the owner SHOULD be held accountable but unfortunately due to safety issues and the "better safe than sorry mentality" the dog needs to be put down as well.
It is very sad when an animal as to be put down after attacking someone. In some cases they are not, but most they are due to the fact that at certain ages it is hard to break them of their habits. They are usually untrainable and have to be put down. It is truely heart breaking. I do believe that the owners of these animals need to be severly punished. Unfortunately most aren't. They are given a slap on the wrist, small fine, or a small amount of time in jail. I feel they should get a lot more punishment. It's sad how the animals in this world are so unfairly treated. They only know how to defend themselves in one way, and that way usually ends up getting themselves put to sleep. It's so sad.
It is definitely unfortunate, but when it comes to be that the animal is too dangerous to be around people (biting/attacking *UNPROVOKED*), the best thing is to put it down. Putting the animal to sleep is done humanely, and it prevents any horrible accidents from happening.
