Why punish the dog Its not fair2007-11-25 2:56:52

Sometimes it's training (or lack of training and socializing), and sometimes a dog just mentally 'snaps' in it's head; it could be a mental glitch, or it could be caused by something like brain cancer. (I had the cancer happen to one of our horses. Sweetest thing, but then she just went crazy.)

If the animal is being teased, harassed, etc., then I do NOT believe the animal should be put down in most cases. The dog should still be training not to bite, but a bite in response to fear or harassment may be able to be dealt with by retraining. An unprovoked attack cannot be "trained away".

It is very sad that an animal has to be put down, but it is usually best for the both animal and the owner.

i know how you feel. i've seen alot of dogs around my neighbor that yell at othert dogs [even though its not attacking. its still wrong] and i agree with you that its the owners fault for not training them with good manors of other dogs. people need to watch their pets more often that they are now. if you need help controlling a dog's anger against another, try watching Dog Whisperer [if you havent heard of him.. he owns tons and tons of dogs or all types and he helps other people to controls thei owns dogs as well. he has some useful teechnques that may help you or someone else dog that is troubling you or other people and their pets] sorry for the spelling mistakes. It doesn't really matter that it wasn't the dogs fault. Your rationale is like saying a serial killer shouldn't be executed because his parents made him that way.
