You are right that lots of dogs aren't treated right by their owners. A woman who lived in the apartments near my house asked me about where to get a Border Collie (like mine). I was like lady -- you can own a Border Collie in no apartment! I have woods in behind my house and still feel like the dog needs more room.

That's a silly argument.. The dog is who the people made it.. They made it into a dog that is attacking people.. So he learns to be aggressive and go after people.. Do you want to adopt him and take the chance that he does the same thing to you, or your kid or your neighbour? Maybe he can be entirely rehabilitated, maybe he can't, will you take that risk with your kids? No you likely wouldn't.. Most normal people won't.. So if you won't, then why should someone else?? Why should the shelter be liable for putting a dog into a home thinking it was fine and it turns out that it wasn't??

You go get one of those dogs that viciously attacked someone.. You rehabilitate it and you find it a home.. NOW YOU are 100% responsible for what it does.. Are you willing to risk everything you have because it will be your fault now if that dog goes on and attacks more people??? Will you be able to sleep at night knowing you adopted out a dog to someone and it killed them or seriously hurt them??

The dogs pay, and it's unfortunate, but I for one am not willing to take on a dog that someone has taught to fight or attack.. I wouldn't risk my dogs, my neighbours, my friends and family.. It's a sad thing that happened, but why should people take that risk, because some JA messed up a dog??
