Why should I bother picking up my dogs crap2007-11-25 2:56:52

Dog poop is biodegradable, so why should I produce more waste by using a plastic bag to pick it up? As long as my dog doesn't crap on somebody's front lawn or on the sidewalk, I just leave it there, even though there are signs everywhere telling me I'll get fined. Why do local governments feel the need to impose such draconian measures?

Answers:

Because while feces are indeed biodegradeable, they also harbor and spread disease. Secondary is the fact that the people who step in it aren't particularly happy. Disease is the reason. Same reasons we're not allowed to throw our meat and vegetable garbage into the gutters.

Because the waste can cause a public health concern. They are breeding grounds for bacteria and larva of parasites and other pests. Not to mention it can smell if it is in a public place.

Because of the parasites that can be found in dog poop that cause human disease. These parasites remain behind on the grass and soil even after there's no visible sign of the poo. These parasites can penetrate your skin just by you stepping on them, and can migrate to all sorts of places in your body. They can migrate to your eyes and cause blindness, or to your liver and cause severe abdominal pain, or even to your brain.. which would be no big loss in your case. Pick up the **** or get rid of the dog asshole.

well if you leave your dogs crap on the ground other dogs will come and eat it or smell it my dog use to do that or people can step on it thats a nasty feeling

Fecal material, "Poo" attracts flies, flies carry germs and diseases like bubonic plague, protect the human race and pick up after your pooch.

lol...well for one thing, dog poop is NOT like regular manure (like cow and other herbavores) secondly, dog poop carries many diseases which can transmit from one dog to another EVEN if both dogs ARE vaccinated. Third, most people don't find it very fun stepping in it or cleaning it off their kids. Fourth, if everybody felt like you we'd have toilets for parks.
