Why should you let a dog go on the couch2007-11-25 2:56:52

My dog is allowed on the couch. BUT, if I tell him to get off, he gets off. He doesn't have a dominance problem and he enjoys cuddling together on the couch.

It is a personal preference, but you can still be pack leader and allow your dog on the furniture. You just allow them on when you say it is okay.

I just have one question for you. Why do you look upon your dog being on the couch as the same as your shoe on your mattress? Don't have a dog if you think they are the same as the bottom of your shoe.

Your dad should respect your opinion, but it sounds like you need to respect your dog a little bit more too.

Our dog is allowed on the couch. However, this is a privledge. He is very well trained and knows who is leader. As long as he keeps up with these things, he will always be welcomed on the couch.

Worst of all, it's confusing to your dog if you tell him no and then someone else encourages him to be disobedient. I think the bigger dominance issue is between you and your dad since you can't agree on animal behavior. I can't help you solve that problem, but I do understand what you're saying.

well personally i am a huggge dog lover! so if you think dogs are so retarded and all than why do you own one? i think you are being really rude and if you dog wants to lay down on the couch, let it unless you want the poor thing to sleep on the dusty uncomfortable floor. if your making it such a big fuss than why don't you buy a dog bed and train it too sleep there.

i have two rotts, and its hard to find a space for them to sit and lay so i bought them a couch to do that on. when i want them off they get off. its all in the training, your dad's "retarded" dog is probably the product of bad training. sure he's a dog but thay like soft stuff too, i wouldnt want to sleep on hardwood all day either.
