Why wont my dog wont walk on hard floors
Hey guys...ok so i fixed the eating problem now i have another problem. i have a six week almost seven week old pug, he eats fine, sleeps in his crate through the night, had his up to date shots, plays well and best of all potty training is doing great..so where's the problem? he will not walk on hard floors in my house or walk on concrete outside. i have a carpet and linoleum mixture in my house, when i put him on the carpet or grass he's fine, but when i want him to walk on the linoleum or concrete floors he whines and cries and will lay there until i pick him up and move him.
is there anyway i can get him to walk on the linoleum and concrete floors, its making potty time outside harder.
Answers:My dog did the same thing for awhile. What happens is it is hard for puppies to keep their balance as it is so on hard slippery floors, they feel even more unstable and it scares them. You need to entice him to walk on it so he gets used to it, or he might fear them forever. Take treats so he has to follow you on the floor to get them. Set him down on the far side of the room and then walk out so he has to follow you out to get to you. He'll learn to walk on the slippery surface and not fear it if you gently get him used to it. Also, when he's acting scared, act like you don't notice he's scared or the scared behavoir wil be reinforced. Just act like everything is fine and he will eventually adjust.
he might have fallen once on the slick linoleum floor and is now scared of falling again. as for the concret, he makes the conection of the hardness of the linoleum to the hardness of the concret and thinks he is going to fall again.
