Is this something that's happened more than once? If it's a one-time thing, then I would consider it an accident. If it happens all the time, then your dog has claimed the bed as his territory, and he needs to be trained to go outside only.

Take your dog outside to do his business. When he goes, give him a treat and make a big deal out of it. Give him lots of positive reinforcement.

I agree with Mandy P but will take it a step further. If this is a repeat thing and you have dominate dogs they could be challenging your child in pack position.

Some things you can do to reinforce your child is higher in the pack include:

Don't let your dogs on the beds or couches.

Don't let them take/claim your child toys as theirs. Put them away or out of reach.

As you are walking your dogs (hopefully on the left) put your child directly in front or directly in the left. When you keep your dogs on your left they generally like up in order of dominance. By having your child directly to your left or better yet, in front, shows that your child is dominate.

Also, when you do your child's sheets, use the scent removal stuff (you can get it at any dog shop) as it removes the scent of urine and feces.

Take all my suggestions with a grain of salt. What works for me may not work for you. When in doubt, take your dog to a class along with your child.

Its a territorial thing, especially if it is a male dog. The dog maybe be trying to show ownership of the child OR the bed or both. Also the dog may be jealous of the child , especially if you owned the dog before you had the child.
