Why do people get animals when they can not afford to take care of them. Dont they know vet visits when they are sick are part of the responsibility of having a pet?

This is just sickening to me. Would you leave a sick kid at home without taking them to the doctor?

Answers:

Everytime I see a question that says something like "I can't afford to take my dog to the vet..." etc, I genuinely wish that there was some sort of nationwide Animal Control that I could call to report these idiots. Honestly. Not providing for a pet's basic needs should be a crime punishable by law (laws must stronger and more heavily enforced that what few neglect laws are on the tablets!).

They make me SICK.

Why in the heck do people bother bringing a living being in their home if they don't have the means to care for it? Caring for a dog is not just buying a cheap bag of Ol'Roy food every other month. It requires time, patience, vet visits, training, etc.

All I can say is, people are stupid. And people don't value what they have. They look at pets like property, not companions.

I don't think anyone aan really answer this question, but I know I would never do that and that (from your question) that you would never do that. This is good because that is two less people who do it!

Some people are irresponsible. Some people just by dogs for company or for protection, but really don't give a crap about taking good care of them. It sickens me to watch the animal control shows and to see bloody and really skinny dogs.

I don't know. Maybe hey just want a guarddog. OR to just show-off. Some people get bored of a dog in maybe.1 week?
