Whys my dog eating dirt2007-11-25 2:56:31

My dog has been vomitting bile and foam off and on for the past week. The vet cannot find anything wrong with him.

He's also been eating Dirt! I know they eat grass to help them vomit but I find it odd to eat dirt.

Has anyone experienced the same thing or know whats wrong?

Good for you for taking him to the vet. A clean bill of health means you shouldn't have to much to worry about. Dogs will sometimes eat dirt to correct a dietary imbalance. You might try changing to a higher quality diet, if you don't already feed one. Talk to your vet about a vitamin supplement. As for the vomiting, they can build up bile in the stomach if it is empty too long. Dogs that are fed once early in the day will often have this buildup and vomit in the evenings or during the night. Try feeding smaller portions 2-3 times a day if possible. Hope this helps.

well tell him no to stay away from dirt. keep saying no until he leaves dirt alone. or get a bottle get 13 pennies. EXACTLY and put it in the bottle. a soda one will do. and put it behind your back and give it a good shake. he will stop beaces the alert in sound. and if he stop s eating dirt and there is stilla problem... well go to another vet for another opinion

i experience it before..al you need to do is feed it often and let your dog drink often maybe it's just hungry maybe you dog is quite large so feed it often

if its just the dirt then i dont know! but if its dirt WITH GRASS that means it has a tummy ache!!
