Will a raw diet make my aggressive dog worse2007-11-25 2:56:33

I have a chihuahua mini pincher mix dog. I would like to switch him to a raw diet but I'm afraid that he will like it so much that his aggression while eating will get worse.

Right now he is on canned science diet and science diet dry food too.

When he eats this food he will growl at anyone that comes near him so we always feed him in a seperate room with a closed door. We have 2 children 2 and 8 and don;t want them getting hurt.

IS it possible that when I change him to a raw diet that he will get even more aggressive because he likes it so much?

How can I help my dog with this issue while eating?

I need a dog whisperer please. :/

Raw has not changed my 30 pound Corgi's disposition. It did make her need more exercise and mental stimulation. It sounds as if your pup is in need of more either way.

I agree you are dealing with a resource guarding issue and that will need to be addressed. I really recommend getting a trainer to do a couple private lessons. It will also help teach your children how to behave and what not to do with him.

Please switch to Raw, it is the best thing you can do for your pup. It is not hard at all. It's not as easy as opening a bag of dog food and pouring it into a dish, but then again, look what your getting!?! Put your time in and research what your doing, join a rawfeeding group online for support and you'll be well on your way. Good Luck!

I dont really care for raw or BARF diets, it can be a hard diet to maintain, and its a lot of work. but it shouldnt change his behavior. He needs more training, not a different diet.
