Will my puppy be OK when I am at work2007-11-25 2:56:38

OKOKOKOK, I will be going home to check on my puppy. I will for the first couple of months crate this little girl but also my daughter will be out of school to help train her. Sorry I didn't explain that but I if I was gonna be gone that long I just would NOT get a dog at ALL! So what kind of spray are you talking about, just a water bottle and spraying the puppy pad???

Kennels are a god send for when ur not home =) start with that, give her a schedule, and she will do good by it, and honestly i use newspaper, cheaper =) and take him right outside , he knows this insteading of weaning them from puppy pad to outside.

There are pads with the scent on them they are called Puppy training pads the Scent is suspost to make the Puppy want to use the pad

You're much better off housetraining the dog than using puppy-pads - They're bad news if you eventually plan to teach the dog to go outside.

You're better off having a long term plan of having someone stop by mid-day to let the dog out when it's older and can hold it or installing a doggie-door so it can go out when it needs to.

Hello...the thing with puppies when left for long periods of time in a crate or space is they will need water & it can be harder the potty train them till they are older...as they age, most dogs don't like pottying where they sleep & eventually get more control nor need as much water..Take Care :)

Better :) You need to first buy a crate. Look for one he can grow into (some even have dividers, so you can use one half until they grow and need the whole crate) The puppy needs to have enough room to turn around, not enough room to play. Keep the pup in the crate except for when playing, eating, or going out. When you/you daughter take him out of the crate, take him when you want him to go and wait. when he does go applaud, spoil. Take him to the potty spot before and after play, food. Keep a close eye on him while he is playing or eating so he doesn't sneek in any extra potty visits in inappropriate places. If he does do not over-scold, but get back on training. Regular times for eating, play and out are essential...get his internal clock in tune. The principle for this is dogs will not go potty where they eat/sleep, so going in the crate is not an option for them (unless forced) which forces them to hold it. Always remember puppy can only hold their pee for they month age is hrs...2mo=2hrs, 4mo=4hrs, etc
