Will putting a penny in your dogs water bowl save your lawn from getting burned by the urine2007-11-25 2:56:40

I recently heard that this works... my lawn is is getting scorched and turning yellow thanks to Fido. Please help!!!

i dont think so. most of your water lines in a home are copper. so the penny trick wont work.

Pennies can actually kill dogs if ingested, not because of obstruction, but because of chemical toxicity.

The high dose of nitrogen in the urine is killing the lawn. Nitrogen is actually a fertilizer but the dose in dog urine is toxic. If you water the area where Fido just peed it's actually good for the lawn. But to let it go undiluted is too much for the lawn to bear.

I doubt a single penny in the dog bowl will hurt your dog (unless it eats it) but its definitely not going to help your lawn.
