Will steroids damage my dogs health2007-11-25 2:56:57

he was prescribed them last June and they have gradually been reduced but he is still taking 5m every third day and this will continue or possibly increase. What will the side effects be ?

there is a risk to the kidneys etc my dog had them for 14 years it it started off as injections then tablets the tablets where every day she didn't die from the side effects of the drug or have any problems connected to it. and your dog is taking a lot smaller dosage than mine did the best person to ask this to is your vet

My pommeranian/pekingese was on steriods for a long time because of allergies and it made him gain a lot of weight. Was not good for his size and short legs. Restricted him in his older years.Did help with the allergies though.

I don't know side affects except possibly rage. But there shouldn't be many side effects since it is being used as a prescription and is a smaller dosage than that of the average body builder who uses steroids.

My dog takes steroids for Addisons Disease.

Her side effects that I know of are:
