Would you do dogs fights if
Dogs fought like humans? You know, with rules of engagement, not fighting to the death, having honor in it. I mean, if dogs fought more like humans, and you treated the dogs alot better than they do. Would you do it? If it wasn't morally wrong, and the dogs actually knew to have rules of engagement, and such? Would you bet on it, or train a dog? Or even just watch it?
I hope I explained this well enough for all the idiots on PetQnA.com to get what I'm asking.
Answers:The old time dogmen did match their dogs kinda the same way boxers fight. Matches were contracted well in advance. The matches were between dogs of two exact weights. They were given a predetermined amount of time for a conditioning period (to get them in the proper shape). There was one judge and a handler for each dog that were in the pit with them. The dogs were taken to opposite corners and released at the same time. If a dog turned, or showed a sign of not wanting to fight, the handler of that dog could pick his dog up when neither dog was in hold and they would go to their respective corners to do what is called a scratch. The handler of the dog that turned would release his dog first and if he went to the other dog and got a hold the match would continue, if he didnt go to the other dog the match was over and the other dog won.
Although some dogs died in the pit it was not something that happened often, a handler could pick his dog up at any time to end the match and most did before it got to far to save the dog.
