Would you please help me to choose a dog2007-11-25 2:57:04

I had a labrador retriever and a terrier in the past. I love labs but they need a lot of time outdoors and terriers shed and make me sneeze too much. I would like a medium sized dog that does not shed a lot, will protect the home but not attack kids in the home, does not bark constantly like a dachshund and behaves well (won't chew the furniture and wreck the house if I'm away.) It's a lot to ask but there must be a dog out there for me. Please give suggestions.

What about labradoodle or cockapoo? I have a cockapoo. He's a great dog :) They don't shed either, which is nice.

They do, however, get lots of ear problems.

What kind of terrier? Well i know westies are very cute and are hypoallergenic which means they don't shed, barely. They are very hyper at times but are very loveable, they are also easy to train. but.they are small not medium sized.

A lot of the destructive behavior you're looking to avoid can be a matter of how well the animal is TRAINED. That part is up to you.

Research breeds. What do you mean by 'protect the house?' Do you mean a guard dog or a watch dog?

Maybe like a golden doodle or labra doodle? They are hyper sensitive dogs good for people with allergies and do not shed. They are cross mixes. A labra doodle is part labrador and standard poodle. Very pretty dogs!

I would recommend poodles, Shitzu or maybe even a rescue dog. It's not that you want a lot, it's simply a matter of training. When you get your pooch, enroll her in a dog obedience class at your local humane society. Obedience classes will usually solve the chewing, barking, knocking kids down problems that you have had in the past
