My child is older now, so I have brought the dog back into the home. Today-and your not going to believe this-he peed and pooped on the living room carpet. Why is he not housebroken anymore?
Answers:A dog that is used to being able to go anywhere will have to be retrained to go outside again. Or he could have possibly been trying to show but didn't know what signs to give. Don't punish him, just pay better attention to him when he is in the house. You might want to think about keeping him on a leash attached to you while he is in the house until he gets the routine down again.
well he has been out side for to long he got us to using out where he stands he has gotten us to the out side
Its been years since he has been in the house. You can't expect him to remember. Being house trained was sort of a habit for him. Then being outside for years he probably forgot what being in the house was all about.
Actually, I DO believe that he peed and pooped on the living room carpet, as you stated, you moved him outside years ago. It's been a long time since he lived inside and had to go outside to go to the bathroom.
Hopefully, he'll just need a little refresher course.

because he has lived outside for so long he has got use to going toilet where he sleeps and where he lives so when hes inside he treats it the same as when hes outside.your just going to have to house train him agen as when he was a puppy, but you know the sayin "you cant teach an old dog new tricks"....
it all depends onhow long has he been out side that has a lot to do with it i think you should only let him or her in for a small amout of time
