Umm theres nothing wrong with cutting ur dogs hair, if its long, and hot, then your actully doing them a favour:)

Can you? Yes. Should you? No! Dog's coats act an an insulator in both warm and cold. So just as it keeps the cold out, it keeps the heat out as well. It actually does a much better job of keeping them cool in the summer than without it.

Don't shave 'em, just brush them really well to get the winter coat shedding over with and they'll be fine.

If you keep them indoors and they don't need the protection and you just want the hair gone, then that is a different story.

There's nothing wrong with taking him to the groomer's to get shaved for summertime, especially if where you live, you get real hot summers (like Texas does).

I own a shiba inu, and i will assume your husky (since they are in the same family) rather than shedding all time...just blows coat twice a year. Your dog should retain fur as it's skin is sensitive to sunlight, the shedding this time of year is the undercoat. If you want to help speed up the shedding so more of it is int he garbage and not on your couch. I suggest giving your husky a warm bath and combing out as much as possible. After that..try using the furminator brush (be careful not to brush too much though as u pretty much will shave the entire undercoat of the dog)..but it works wonders as speeding up the blowing coat process. Good Luck. BTW a force air dryer..like the Metro Force Air dog dryers are great for getting rid of the loose dog hairs.
