Our family recently got a yorkie poo, mainly because it is advertised as "non-allergenic". I have been having all the symptoms of allergies whenever I get near, even though they don't shed dander. The only difference is that with this dog, I don't get "welts" or teary eyes. Are some people still allergenic to Yorkie Poo's? Or am I allergic to something other than the dander??? It does not shed.hmm.

Hybrid Hypoallergenic dogs are basically a myth. Even purebreds aren't totally. You can easily be allergic to the saliva. Allergies can also develop over time.

Unfortunately you never know what is in the mix. Things like Golden Doodles or Labradoodles are probably the worst for allergies. Golden Retrievers and Labradors are very allergenic. Standard Poodles are not. When you mix them there are no guarantees. The bad part with designer dogs is they are usually bred in puppymills:

i have a bichon frise, that is alsoadvertised as hypo-allergenic. I noticed that when he sleeps next to my head at night i have a sneezy day following. I went to an allergist and was told that there is no such thing as an allergy-free dog, but rather that there are some breeds that have less allergins in their dander. He suggested that I don't allow him in my bed at night. Brilliant huh?

You're probably having problems with the yorkie part. They tend to have dry skin so they do have dander. I suggest getting the dog groomed & explain to the groomer the symptoms you have. The groomer can probably bathe the dog with a shampoo that will help. And you'll need to groom regularly. Wash your hands after handling the dog & try to keep it away from your face.
