adopted a puppy and it died within 4 days, wondering if any other such experiences?

Answers:

If this puppy died from a communicable disease, then, at the very least, they should return your adoption fee. I wouldn't take another puppy out of that shelter, because it is obvious there is something dangerous and contagious lurking in their corners.

I don't know where Central Valley Companion Rescue is located, but I do know I adopted a cat about 40 years ago from a shelter near Philadelphia, PA, and found out that it had distemper, when it got very sick within two days. Luckily, I had a good vet, and I followed his instructions precisely. When it was all over, he told me that my cat was one of two he had seen survive distemper in his years of practice.

Some shelters have to pay for help to clean the kennels, and these people are not motivated by love for animals and don't get paid enough to be as careful as they should with disinfecting.

If you are bent on revenge, I would research the laws regarding kennels in your area. I do know, here in PA, a shelter where there has been an outbreak of Parvous is not allowed to sell puppies for two years.

I wouldn't know of similar experiences, but I'd recommend using the Valley Oak SPCA in Visalia for your next adoption. I've adopted 2 pets from them and several of my family members have also, with no problems.

Good luck.
