Answers:

you can trim the nails on a dog of any age. Go to the pet store and buy pet nail trimmers.

They aren't CLAWS they are nails. Ask your vet or someone at the pet store for some directions on how to trim nails. You have to be careful not to trim too far down, or the nails will bleed (and if you nip their nerves, they won't let you try it again!)

You SHOULD trim their nails, if they grow too long, it can damage their paws, or they can easily get caught and rip them out.

yes
If you don't want to clip him/her, use a nail file. You can buy them from the dollar store for a buck. Just make sure you throw it away when your done. You can also run him on the pavement. That might help file them done. Filing them might be hard if he/she is squirmmy. Good Luck.
Just because it hurts doesn't mean her nails need cut. If she scratches it could be they are sharp, puppies claws tend to be like needles. Gently file the sharp points off. If you think her nails need cut, take her to a groomer who will know the correct way, which is take a little off at a time, never cut black nails unless they are curling round and touching the ground. If your dogs nails are up off the ground they dont need cut. For the sharpness though, just gently file the points off. Cutting nails leaves them sharper than filing.
if there quite sharp then yes. make sure you use proper dog nail clippers. just trim the ends off. on the white nails youll be able to see where to cut. youll see white on the ends then red further up do not cut past the red as they ll bleed leave a couple of mm between the red and white. nails that are black are harder as you cants see where to cut so take off as minimal as possible. if youre unsure or your dogs bouncing about take to the vets to have them done.
YOU CAN. BUT YOUR BETTER OFF GOING TO A VET AND HAVING THEM SHOW YOU. IF THE DOG SQUIRMS AND GETS "QUICKED" IT'LL HURT LIKE HELL AND CAN MAKE THE DOG FEARFUL OF HER FEET BEING HANDLED. THE VET CAN SEDATE HER IF NEEDED UNTIL SHE GETS USED TO IT.
yeah you can trim them but the equipment is expensive
Not only do you need to fille or trim the nails, you need to teach your pup not to jump up on you. It may be cute now, but it's not when your dog weighs 70 lbs. Take obedience lessons. Other wise your dog may end up hurting you or a child by accident.

When I trim my shepherds nails I have her sit, then I reach around her hugging her close. It works when you are teaching a dog to let you do there nails. Now she just lays on the floor.

Good Luck :-)

Dog nail trimmers cost less than 10 dollars, and use a regular human nail file.
