are bloodhounds hard to care for and train2007-11-25 2:57:49
i am thinking about getting one well i had a lady put one on hold for me. im so excited i know his father was 128 lbs, and his mom is 84 lbs. i love big dogs but are the hard to train? hard to care for?
what do you think about the breed??
Answers:They are easy to train, but they also have tons of energy. As long as you plan to devote a half hour or so of your day exercising your dog then I think everything will go just fine. On the plus side having an active dog will probably help you lose a few vanity pounds.
A breed that needs a job. Intelligent on average, so simple behaviors should be no problem. Most of the blood hounds I have known have been in kennels, as they were working dogs. I volunteer at the SF SPCA and have never seen one up for adoption, though I have seen many large breeds. Talk to a knowledgeable trainer, first.
they r hounds! nose hits ground ears shut off. great dogs if you can handle that not lovers dog nose dogs
Blood hounds with energy?? Well, they have a lot of energy, if they are being worked. Blood hounds are not good pets as in door dogs go. Their noises are so strong that they can pick up your smell on trafficked concrete after hours even days of you walking down the side walk.
With that said they follow their nose. They are impossible to potty train in the house and they will take off at first chance from your open front door when there is a good scent.
