Some are and some are not.. It depends on their parents..
In most cases the bench type cocker is harder to train than the field type Spaniel..but there are exceptions..A good field Spaniel is a genius..

well every dogs are smart but i don't think so their to hyper you need to start a early age for better results.
I dont have a full breed cocker spaniel, but do have a cockapoo and she is a great dog. Very smart, and was easy to train.
