are coyotes dangerous
i saw one the other night foraging in someone's garbage. i mistook it for a dog and got close. when it noticed me, it bared it's teeth but stood in a submissive pose. what does that mean?
i could tell it was a coyote because of the bushy tail and long pointed snout plus it's coloring. i just backed away and it didn't pursue me. there have been reports of coyotes attacking people in a nearby state park that were killed by sharpshooters.
my question is if i happen to run into one again, what should i do??
Answers:Coyotees are timid and easily scared off.. they dont like "tall" things so raising your hands may help - YELLING usually is all that is needed to frighten one off.. making threatening movements towards one will scare them
or get a donkey - donkeys are brilliant guard animals.. they will kill a coyotee
NEVER run - if you run you turn your self into prey
They are only dangerous to humans if they feel threatened or have lost their food source and are starving. They sometimes attack livestock because they are hungry.
If you see another one, just back away and leave him alone.
they are basically gutless when alone, but if cornered they will lash out and if there is more than one your are in trouble, stay away from them , they also can be rabid
Coyotes can carry diseases and should be avoided at all costs.
