Dogs do see in color, but their perception of color is not the same as it is for people. They cannot distinguish between red, orange, yellow or green. They can see various shades of blue and can differentiate between closely related shades of gray that are not distinguishable to people.

I'm told that they are. However, when my dog was 8 months old he got hit by a car, a yellow station wagon. Every time he saw a yellow station wagon he would growl. He'd never growled at other station wagons only the yellow ones.

well not like people think they are they can actually see shades of dark blue (i think and some other colors so they can actually see more than black and white but they cant see as wide a range of colors as humans)

Yes dogs ARE color blind, they see in two colors instead of three exactly the same as some color blind people. The difference between a dogs eyes and ours is that a dog has fewer cones (collect color) and more rods (collect light) so a dog sees colors about like a color blind person, and sees at night about like a person using night vision goggles.
