are those steel combs and brushes for dogs bad
i have a steel comb and steel slicker brush that are used to groom my shih tzu, its fine until my shih tzu lost so much hair because i brushed hair so much to remove the matts resulting to thinning of the hair, i bought a new brush which is made of rubber and flexible which i used to groom my pekingese and it never lost any hair and keeps its hair well groomed and fluffy without thinning.
whats the proper use of the brush, and the comb, how to properly groom long haired dog, in my first try with my first dog, i failed, i learned from my mistakes now i bought rubber, whats the use and how do you use the steel comb, and the steel slicker brush, where do you use it and how. thanks..
Answers:For daily brushing, I like to use the 'people' brush, that is made of nylon bristles, with the knobs on the end of each bristle..I like Goody or Suave brand..Then, occasionally, use the slicker for cleaning better..but. don't use the slicker down to the skin..I think that is what the hair loss was from..It scratches the skin too much to use it that deep.but only gently. I use the steel comb to work out tangles..
My dogs have hair even longer then Shih Tzu or Peke, so I do a lot of brushing..
If you use a spritzer bottle to keep the hair damp as you brush, the hair will be stretchy, and not break as badly..it also controls the static, so the hair grooms smoother, without snapping back and re tangling as you go..
yes its just fine
I use a steel brush on my Bearded Collie. If you don't use it correctly, it can damage your dog's skin.
