Yes they like most are just watch foe little animals they love to chase and using a bate which is a food they love always have it handy even in your hand and when he does what he's told he gets a treat an qwick rub then when he does whatever comand you ask again do it an give him a little piece of whatever treat you have for him.Good luck n I hope Iwas a help.

Do you mean for basic obedience- heel, sit, stay come or the more advance work of retrieving and jumping and hand signals?

VIrtually any dog can learn the basics.

Whippets tend to be distactable (that desire to run and chase) so you adjust your methods to their temperment. They are usually not dominant personalities and once you keep their attentin, they are happy to go along with you.

As a candidate for upper level obedience degrees (CDX, UD, OTCH).well, they wouldn't be my pick.

cool dogs but they look like they need a sandwitch. any dog is easy to train . get a book understand them. and hope that dog dont take off running and keep going lol they are as fast as greyhounds. i have one that lives next door hes a very good dog he listens well . but he really looks like he needs a sandwitch poor skinny guy . i know they are supposed to be that way . i have huskys they look fit . i know my neaboor feeds him but hes so skinny lol. thats just how the breed is . anyway i know hes a very smart dog . it just takes the right owner and the time .

The whippet that was in my agility class was an excellent student. Knew every command to a tee. Loved the teeter, but not so much the sound when it came down at the other end. The only issue they had was getting her to run at full speed. She'd trot around the course like she was taking a stroll in the park. The whole "timed course" didn't mean a thing to her lol.
