yep, if your dog is barking excessively, buy a bark collar. if you use it correctly, it is not cruel, and is very effective. i used it with one of my dogs. it only took wearing it twice to break her of her maniacal barking. if your dog has a lot of fur on the throat area, you'll have to shave it so that the contacts on the collar touch the skin. it doesn't burn them, but delivers a sharp vibration when they bark. all i have to do now when my dogs bark, is tell them "no barking," and they stop right away. good luck with this.

it probably is possible, but it would be like training a human not to talk. It would take allot of time effort, and allot of beating the dog to make that work. A better plan is to just get its voice box removed. Then the dog won't hate you, be afraid of you, and when it tries to bark it will bring a smile to your face hearing the weassing sound.
