cat + dog =
we have a 12 year old cat. my son wants to get a puppy. will there be huge problems getting the 2 animals accustomed to each other?
Answers:Hi, the cat will adjust, the puppy will naturally want to play, cat will swat him (with or without claws) a few times and the puppy will leave the cat be.
it depends on wat breed each is
Usually not..if you get a young puppy it will grow up with cats..the cat might not like it, but cats will usually just stay away from the dog..They might be a scuffle or two but nothing major.
There should not be an issue. The puppy will want to play with the cat. Just make sure that the cat dosent claw the dogs eye. Slowly intorduce the cat to the dog. Also, since the cat is older, you may want to consider giving the cat a 'safe, dog free' area to call his.
Cat +Dog = Catdog :)
Okay, um depending on what breed dog it is like if it was a friendly dog like a lab there probably wouldnt be much trouble the cat would just slap the puppy and he would know better than to mess with it and not to mention you would have to punish the puppy everytime he chansed the kitty or barked at it or anything and has he gets older he will know better then to mess with it. I have 3 dogs and 5 cats.
Has long has your 12 year old cat is healthy and has claws you should be fine, puppys learn fast the younger they are the better and im talking like a month old.
