Great Dane. They are loyal, big, lovable and make a great intimidating watch dog.

Obviously, you need a big space for either the St Bernard or the Great Dane. St. Bernard's are so furry, they'd be best in a colder climate. I know that Gr Dane's are great with kids. Dachshounds are good little house dogs and very smart and playful. I have known some to be snippy with children however.

They all have their fair share of medical problems. Depending on the amount of time you have to give to them and the size of where you live could also determine this. Dachshund have problems with their spines later in life be sure to control their weight. Great Danes and St Bernard's have problems with hips, osteosarcoma, spinal problems, gastric diliation and volvulus. Again control with weight management for most of those. All breed has their own predisposition to problems so be sure to research these on AKC or other well educated breeder site and be sure to check family history of the SIre and Dam and their parents for any diseases running in the family. But all three are good really :)
