I have a lovely 2 year old spaniel..she is a very loving spaniel, I have trained her in the basic comands and she is normally good exept when someone knocks at the door,she tairs to the door and gets there before anyone else, I have made a gate that I put in front of her so she doesn't run out..but when anyone comes indoors she gets really excited and jumps ups people and cries at the same time and gets really over excited she will roll on the floor so the person cant walk in doors..its now getting embarassing..if I pick her him and put her outside in the garden she scratches the back door and cries till I let her in, she is like this for about half an hour.I tried making her sit but she just ignores all her training.she acts as if she never see's anyone and has never had a fuss (completely untrue) when I take her for a walk and she see's anyone she will try to jump up she pulls so hard on her lead she sounds chokey,I need help. I have another dog and he's not like it and he listens

I have a german shepherd who does this. I now keep a small plastic bottle next to the door with a few small pebbles in the bottom. When the dog goes mad and over the top I pick up the bottle and give it one shake in his direction - instantly the dog stops jumpng up and barking. Normally one shake does it - they dont like the noise. If he does it again just repeat - he WILL get the message. Its got to the stage now that if my dog forgets himself I reach for the bottle and he stops before I even touch it. The best part is it doesnt hurt the dog and saves you shouting. Give it a try - it works. Remember to praise him when he stops each time for him to get the message. Good luck x

Watching dog borstall helped me I followed what they said, get a small plastic bottle half fill it with small stones every time your dog jumps up bang the bottle down to make a loud noise the dog might cower but if you do this every time she jumps up and she gets frightened by the banging she will get the message that the banging means don鈥檛 jump.
