cross contamition for dogs with parvo2007-11-25 3:00:30

my dog has parvo and we sannitized our home with bleach and some type of spray that the vet gave us to kill the parvo do we need to change our clothing and spray our home again every time our clothing is touched by the dog.

in your own home you will be ok, but you will not be able to go to other peoples home if they have pets, no matter how much you clean your shoes clothes, parvo, can be a killer for young pups and old dogs, so stay away.

Please get your dog all his/her injections.

Um.no. I had two Lab pups with Parvo and we only had to clean/bleach the house once.but were told by the vet that the parvo virus can live up to a year on the ground, so not to introduce a new dog into the household for that amount of time. The vet also said that they can only get parvo once. Of course she said that after she asked for $1100 and gave the pups back to me covered in vomit and fecal matter. Nasty business that parvo. Mine got it from a dead blue jay.this same vet told me that there are different strands of parvo and that the shots don't matter. I'm thinking she stinks as a vet.

I am so sorry your dog has Parvo! Follow your vet's instructions. Call him to ask how often to spray. spraying too often seems like it could be a hassle or worse, so call and ask. I think that you are dedicated people to keep your dog and care for it with this virus. I remember when it used to be considered 100% fatal. I have nursed animals through tough illnesses and though it is tough, it is the most rewarding thing. Best of luck to you and your dog!

Hi unfortunately your home will carry parvo for a long time to come & it is very difficult to get rid of even with beach.the best thing I know of is Trigene that vets use but the fact will remain that the parvo will be around your home & in carpets or anything that will absorb fluid that the dogs parted with or that you have walked across the area will parvo was still active on it.
