Benedryl (VET approved at least by mine)

Dosage is 1 mg per pound. Most of the tablets are 25mg so (1 for 25 lb dog, 2 for 50lb dog, etc.) So you'll have to try to cut the tablet depending on your dog's weight or get the liquid (Childs)

Remember tho - it might make him a little sleepy. You can re-dose - read the directions. If I didn't see an improvement after two doses, I'd go to the vet.

If you see swelling- in the face and head or difficulty breathing, skip the benedryl and go to the vet right away - this is not good. Happended to me once too and she had to have medical treatment immediately (in this case the middle of the night) YES folks for all you non-payers out there, an ER visit at night and I didn't balk at paying it - it's an emergency. :-)

Childrens or infant dose of Benadryl. My boxer use to get hives. or something. (bee sting, fly or mosquito bites) and he had seasonal allergies, the vet prescribed Benadryl. easy and cheap! I give m y peke infant dose cut in 1/2 for his allergies

Call your vet and ask the dose for benedryl, but if it is a really bad reaction, you may have to take him to the vet.

2 of my 3 chinese crested's cannot take a certain brand of vaccine or they will break out in hives. Do you know what caused it?

I was given a benedryl of 1mg per 10 lbs so check with a vet before dosing. My boxer mix is allergic to soybeans!

See the vet before you give the dog anything. That's the only person that can tell you what the problem really is.I'm sure he know's the dog's medical history and only after he see's the rash for himself, and I imagine does a skin crape will the problem be treated corectly. Don't take chances with the dog's well being. Good luck.
