There is a bed that has a vinyl type mesh pulled tight over a metal frame. My dog loves it. It stays outdoors and is super easy to clean.

The kind mentioned above, in the Foster & Smith catalog, is great. I have several, and they hold up pretty well.

If you're inclined to make one, use PVC pipe for the two long sides, the two short sides, and the four legs, and the elbow joints to connect all the pieces. Then use the webbing you buy in rolls to re-do lawn chairs, and attach that to the piping.

I've found, though, that if I wait for a sale, it's cheaper & a lot less trouble to just buy them.
