Do big dogs live longer then little ones?or the little dogs live longer then the big ones?
Answers:in general, little dogs tend to live longer than big dogs. Check the AKC website to see estimates for each breed.
Smaller ones live longer than larger ones on average. You will have your occassional small dog passing while still young from some kind of complication. Our toy poodle made it to 16 while my friend's great dane only made it to 7.
I would say that the smaller ones would live longer than bigger ones, because big dogs have more fat and so they have more of a chance of developing heart disease. : lots of fat= heart disease.

It is said that little dogs live longer than big dogs, but I have seen 17 year old big dogs and the same for little dogs. It all depends on how u take care of them, just like us.
It is a proven fact that smaller dogs life spans are longer than the larger breeds. From what I understand , the smaller dogs organs don't work as hard as the smaller breeds., thus there isn't all the strain on the heart and lungs. Look how small cats are and their life span is usually over 20 years for a healthy cat.
generally. i think its about the same.i used to have a beagle.. until my aunt accidentalyy killed it. and she was healthy and she was 12 years old. now i have a rotweiler and shes healthy too and shes 12 also.i think it more depends on the breed than the size
