thinking about getting my dobe a friend because i dont have much time to spend with him but im afraid he wont like another dog or he will beat the dog up also what kind of dog goes good with a dobe

i have a doberman rescue i work rehab dogs through, and lots of them have been surrendered because of your very situation. getting another dog isn't the answer. either get more time for your dog, or find him his forever home that will have enough time. sorry, not trying to be mean, just honest. seen too many dogs missout on the right home because of it.
alsodobes are notoriously beligerent with other dogs, even if they are reaised together. i have two females that can't be near each other without trying to kill each other. dominance issues. last time it cost me over $700 to stitch them both up. please don't run that risk. most dobes are fine with another of the OPPOSITE sex, but don't rely on another dog to give your dog the attention he needs from you.

Another dobie, but they prefer people.
Any dog can be taught to get along with another, but your Dobie really does'nt need a friend, there happy just being your buddy, in the past I have seen conflict with them and it resulted in having to get rid of the 2nd dog.
Test it out. I know of one Dobie who loves his friend, a Chesapeake retriever. It was the best thing that ever happened to him. They really love each other.
