does any body know any thing about crab spiders2007-11-25 3:00:56

i found a crab spider about 2 weeks ago in my shop and had never seen one before but now i seem to be finding loads.

my friends dog was in the shop and found one and ate it and as the spiders have a weired yellowish gunge i dont know if this will effect the dog or not!any ideas?

Crab spiders is a species of spider(like you didn't know)

Crab spiders have short, wide, flattened bodies. The first two or three pairs of legs are longer than the rest and are normally held out from the sides of the body as a crab would hold its claws.

No most probably it won't harm the dog. It is still a good idea to get the dog checked by a vet since nutrition derived out of eating it may be unsuitable for the dog though I don't think it can kill him.

Apparently it was on the news the other day that UK are getting spiders the size of an average hand (big buggers) it's unusual for us to get these species but as the ozone and climate changes the world is going mad. As for the dog hope he will be ok, try typing "crab spiders" in google and see what info it brings up, hopefully it will say whether the are poisonus.
