does any one buy their pets meds online is it the same exact stuff that i would buy from the vet2007-11-25 3:00:57Answers:
I have seen television commercials for pet medications online. I prefer to purchase mine from the vet. There is way too much conterfeiting happening on the internet for me to trust any medications I get there.
1-800-PET-MEDS is what I've seen advertised on television.
Yeah, I get all my dog's meds there, it is way way cheaper.
it is the exac same meds---only thing is -you usually need to have tests(like heartworm) done before you give the meds to make sure they dont have them to begin with.
yes it is. firstly check with your vet that the company you want to buy from are who they say. the only difference is these online companies are cheaper. you will need to have a perscription for the majority of medicines and have your animal checked every 3 months by your vet for medication (whether you buy from them or online) some medication however does not need a perscription.
It depends on where you get it from. This is a really touchy issue for a lot of vets and veterinary professionals, and here is why. Online pet pharmacies like 1-800-PetMeds sell products cheaper than your vet can often purchase them. What does that tell us? They aren't getting them from the manufacturer, AND the product manufacturers, for example, Bayer and Merial, do NOT sell to them and readily admit that they refuse to sell to them. So where are they getting the products? Nobody knows for sure. That means that they are not guaranteed by the manufacturer so if you have a problem, the manufacturer will not reimburse you or pay for treatment or diagnosis of a problem that may have been caused by their product. If you buy, for example, flea preventive and heartworm preventive from your vet's office, the product is 100% guaranteed and if there is a problem with the product, the manufacturer will pay for the product or for treatment of a condition caused by that product. There have been many issues of counterfit medications sold through these online pharmacies and it's really hard for consumers to tell the difference between the real product and counterfit products. They may not work as well or they may even be harmful to your pets. Also, some of these online pharmacies will sell prescription medications without a valid prescription from a vet. This is highly illegal and dangerous for pets.
